How to extract selected pages from a PDF.
Keep just the PDF pages you need, choose their order and save one document or separate files. Includes page-range examples and common mistakes.
1. Choose extraction when you know which pages to keep
Open Extract PDF Pages and choose your PDF. Extraction keeps selected pages in a new file. Delete PDF Pages does the opposite: it removes selected pages and keeps the others. Your original file remains unchanged in both cases.
2. Use the page position in the file
The first page of the PDF is page 1 in this tool, even if the printed page says “cover”, “i” or “12”. Count from the start of the file and check the thumbnails. For a report with an unnumbered cover and contents page, printed page 1 might actually be the third PDF page.
3. Select thumbnails or enter a range
Tick the pages you want, or enter numbers in Pages. 3 selects one page; 2-5 selects four pages; 1, 4-6 selects the first page followed by pages 4, 5 and 6. Odd pages and Even pages select by position in the PDF, not by the number printed on the paper.
4. Set a custom order with page numbers
To put page 5 first, followed by pages 1, 2 and 3, enter 5, 1-3. Ranges must run forwards: use 3, 2, 1 rather than 3-1 for reverse order. Repeated page numbers are included once. Thumbnail selection controls sort pages into their original order, so enter a custom sequence after making any thumbnail changes.
5. Choose one PDF or separate files
Use One PDF with selected pages for a single packet. Choose Separate PDF for each page (ZIP) when each page should be its own file; open the ZIP after downloading to access those PDFs. Leaving Pages empty selects every page. To split the whole file into individual pages, leave it empty and choose the separate-files option.
6. Check the result before sharing
Open the output and confirm its page count and sequence. A copied page keeps its page content without being turned into a picture, but do not assume document-level bookmarks, attachments or interactive form behaviour will be preserved by a page extraction. Check those features if you need them, and keep the original. To mix pages from different documents, use Organise PDF and its insert-pages control.
