How to combine scanned pages on an iPhone.
Combine separate scans into one PDF on an iPhone. Save scans to Files, choose the right tool, reorder pages and check the finished document.
1. Scan together when the pages are still on paper
You can avoid merging altogether by capturing every page in one scan session. In the iPhone Files app, open the More menu and choose Scan Documents. Capture each page, check its edges and add the next scan before finishing. Then choose where to save it. Apple’s document scanning instructions cover Files and Notes; the exact buttons can vary with your iOS version.
2. Check whether you have PDFs or photos
Use Merge PDF if the scans are already separate PDF files. Use JPG to PDF if they are JPG, PNG or WebP images. A photo of a page and a PDF scan need different tools. HEIC images must first be exported or converted to a supported image format.
3. Save separate PDFs somewhere you can find them
Put the PDFs in an accessible folder in Files before opening the merger. Descriptive names such as 01-cover.pdf, 02-form.pdf and 03-receipts.pdf make checking easier. If a file is stored in a cloud service, make sure it is available on the phone before selecting it.
4. Merge the files in the correct order
Open Merge PDF in your browser, tap Choose PDF files and select the scans. Check the file list and use the arrow buttons to move files earlier or later. Each file’s own pages keep their order. Tap Merge PDFs and download the result. The website creates the combined PDF on your device.
5. Fix individual pages after merging
If page 3 is sideways, open the result in Rotate PDF, enter 3 in Pages and choose the required angle. To move individual pages or remove a duplicate, use Organise PDF. Its thumbnails show the page order; arrow buttons provide an alternative to dragging on a small screen.
6. Save and review the finished file
Open the downloaded PDF and check page count, order, legibility and cropped edges. Save it to the Files location you want, then share that version. If it is too large for email, use the PDF attachment guide to choose a suitable compression method.
If the phone cannot complete a large job
This website accepts up to 50 MB per file and 100 MB in total, with no more than 60 input files, 200 pages per PDF and 300 input pages overall. A phone can run out of memory before those limits. Try a smaller group or a computer. Keep the original scans until the final PDF has been checked.
